RAMOS FULFILS POTENTIAL

At the age of 19, Sergio Ramos signed for Real Madrid with a price tag of €27 million becoming the 1st Spanish player that Fiorentino Perez secured since being appointed as the Real Madrid President.

It has been over 10 years since Ramos made his debut a professional level as he started off his career at Sevilla before making his move to Real Madrid and despite having to play and work at such a consistent and high level each week, the Spanish defender insisted in saying that he loves each day that passes and he still envisions himself having the same dreams he had when he was younger.

“What remains of the kid at Sevilla is the same dream of always wanting to win. I still have that today,” he told Marca.

“I wake up every day with a smile and, in that sense; I feel the same as I did when I arrived at Real Madrid in 2005. Then, I was a boy who came to conquer the world and looked forward to achieving great goals. Today, I’ve achieved many of them. The 10 years have gone by very quickly because I have enjoyed it. I wake up every day with tremendous enthusiasm.”

The former Sevilla player had special praise when talking about Carlo Ancelotti as he considers the former coach of Ac.Milan to be the right man in charge of Real Madrid.

“We’ve already had our time with Mourinho, when we had some good times and bad.

“Ancelotti is someone widely revered for his CV, for everything he’s won and his knowledge of the game. He was also a pro so can put himself in a player’s shoes. In that respect, he creates a lot of chemistry and has a very good relationship with the squad. I think we can learn a great deal from him this season and have a successful year.” Ramos responded when he was questioned about the arrival and appointment of Ancelotti as the replacement of Jose Mourinho.

CITY MAKE OFFER

Manchester City is reported to be preparing an offer for the Spanish defender of Real Madrid Sergio Ramos who is suspected to be having problems with the head chiefs of the club allowing the Premier League team to make a move for Ramos.

Signing Ramos from Real Madrid will be hard to accomplish as he has a contract with the club that expires in 2017 however if his relationship with the executives of the club is as bad as rumored, then he might just request a transfer and exit from the club and City will have to make an offer of around €50 million which is the valuation that Ancelotti has for him.

The Former Sevilla player has been a target of criticism in this season as well as the last one, with many people claiming that his career was recently going through a downhill path but Ramos stated that he will not let it stop him from playing his game.

“As I always say, when a teammate makes a mistake you should never point the finger. Just like no one in particular is responsible when the team wins. We win together and lose together”, was Ramos’ riposte when quizzed over the slack marking for Valencia’s two goals.

“If I lingered on what people say… but it goes in one ear and out of the other. I won’t let the criticism get to me: I strive to improve every day. Mark my words – Sergio Ramos is going to be at Real Madrid for many years to come”, Ramos added.

Ramos is a regular player for Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid but recently has had to face a series of physical problems which has not allowed him to perform at his best and according to the Spanish defender, he will use the 2014 as a chance to improve and do what he was not able to accomplish in this year.

“I´m not at my best level, but I trust in myself completely” Ramos said.

RAMOS HAILS INIESTA

Sergio Ramos has hailed Andres Iniesta for the impact that he has had on the Spanish team over the years.

Spain has to play its last World Cup qualifying game against Georgia tomorrow at Albacete which is the hometown of Iniesta.

Ramos was talking to the reporters in the pre match press conference. When he was asked about Iniesta and his contributions for the Spanish team, he said, “We are really lucky to have got guys like Andres. He has contributed heavily for the side in the last 6-7 years.”

“Not only is a quality player, he is a fantastic person too and that’s why people love him that much.”

In its previous match against Belarus, Spain had gone with only three defenders and Ramos had to play as a right back rather than a centre back which is his usual position.

When asked about that, the 27 years old Real Madrid player said, “I had to be a bit creative playing in that position against Belarus.”

“If the team wants me to continue playing in that position, I would do that. But, I do think that when we play with four defenders, we look a more balanced side.”

Meanwhile, the Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa who has already played a few matches for the Brazilian national team might feature for Spain now.

When asked about that, Ramos said, “It depends on the manager. We have got nothing to do with it.”

“If he comes here, he would certainly get a warm reception from us. He has got amazing skills and he will make this team stronger; no doubt about that.”

Spain has a great chance of making it to the World Cup finals. They just need one point against Georgia and they will be on their way to Brazil.

Sergio Ramos wants Real to forget Mourinho

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has told his teammates to forget the reign of Jose Mourinho and enjoy their time under the new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian manager replaced the former Inter Milan boss as the Madrid boss this close season and the Spanish international has been thoroughly impressed by the way the former Chelsea boss is trying to get the team to play beautiful football. The side under Ancelotti is paying more attention to a swift passing game than under his predecessor and the Italian remains confident he has the players at his disposal that can easily adapt to the change is style.

And speaking to the media from the United States of America where Real Madrid are taking part in the Guinness International Champions Cup, Sergio Ramos stated that the players have to forget the Mourinho era and concentrate on what they are trying to achieve under the new manager. He went on to add that the style of play Ancelotti is trying to get them play is also not new to them.
The Spanish centre back stated that the team has great players with great ability and they must adapt to the new system. He mentioned that the team has players that can make a difference and have a balanced squad altogether.

Spanish skipper and legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas was also given his first start by Ancelotti after six months in the 2-1 win over Everton after a falling out with Mourinho and Sergio Ramos stated that it was good and for him personally, it was a novelty to play in front a goalkeeper of his caliber.

Ramos further mentioned that to the player, he remains the best goalkeeper in the world and that is enough confidence for both the players in front of him and Casillas as well.

RAMOS RUES DEFEAT

The centre-back of Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos, has expressed his disappointment over his side’s defeat in the final match of the Copa Del Rey against Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid was defeated by 2-1 in the final match. They had started well and had taken the lead with the goal of Cristiano Ronaldo in the 14th minute, but, Atletico bounced back superbly after that.

Diego Costa scored the equalizer for Atletico in the 35th minute, and then, Miranda with a fine header in the 8th minute of the extra time gave them a decisive lead of 2-1.

When asked about that match, Ramos said, “It was disappointing to end up on the losing side in the final. Atletico played better than us and they deserved to lift the trophy.”

“I think we got a little bit complacent after scoring that first goal. We lost 3 or 4 easy opportunities. You can’t afford to do that in a big game like final.”

When asked about the overall performance of Real Madrid in this season, Ramos said, “We didn’t manage to win any title this season. The whole team is gutted about that. I just want to say to our supporters to keep faith in the team. Hopefully, the next season will be better for us.”

When asked about the exit of Jose Mourinho after this season, Ramos said, “We will miss him for sure. He is one of the best coaches going around. I personally had a very good tuning with him. He helped me a lot in improving my game.”

“It’s his personal decision to move back to England and rather than debating on it, we should just respect his decision.”

Mourinho served Real Madrid as a manager for three years. Recently, he returned to his former club Chelsea.

BENZEMA WILL SCORE

The Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has come under intense criticism in recent months after failing to show form in front of goal. The 25-year-old has managed just eight goals in 22 appearances for Real Madrid this season, while he has won 11 matches without scoring for his international team – France.

His struggles in front of goal this season have been compared with the struggles he faced when he initially arrived at the Real Madrid. In his first season at the club, he managed just eight goals. The last two seasons, though, Benzema has been able to show the kind of form that persuaded Madrid to pay £35 million for his services.

Despite this criticism, his teammate at Madrid – Sergio Ramos – has leapt to his defence. Ramos has said that doubting the qualities of Benzema is madness because of the quality that the striker possesses. He has said that Benzema has the ability to turn the match around whether it be for France or Real Madrid. According to Ramos, Benzema is almost unstoppable when he is on form. He is of the opinion that the Spaniards will have to be wary of the threat posed by Benzema when they take on France in a crucial World Cup qualifying match.

“Doubting a footballer like Benzema is madness. He’s an outstanding striker for Madrid and France who can turn a match around. Everyone is free to think what they want, but when he’s on form there are few strikers who are as good as him. You have to be very focused facing him, because if you make one mistake he’ll score against you,” said Ramos. Spain come into the match on the back of a disappointing run of form, which has seen them draw 1-1 against Finland. As a result, they are in the second position behind France in the group.

RAMOS STILL BELIEVES

Sergio Ramos has said that Real Madrid can still win the La Liga title in the ongoing season. Madrid is currently at no. 3 in the La Liga points table with 36 points in 18 matches. Barcelona FC which is at the top of the table has also played the same no. of matches, but, has 16 more points than Madrid. These numbers suggest that it’s going to be an uphill task for Madrid to defend the La Liga title, but, Ramos has full faith on his team and he said that his team would perform much better in the second half of the season and hopefully, would win the La Liga title again.

When asked about the performance of Real Madrid in the ongoing season, Ramos said, “This season hasn’t been as great as the last season for us. We haven’t performed well in a few games and have got defeated. But, we are only in the middle of season. It’s not that the season has finished. We still have chance to turn things around. If we perform up to our potential in the second half of the season, there is no reason why we can’t defend the title. We can do it again.”

“If you look at the team, this is the same team that had won the title last year. Some players haven’t been at their best so far, but, they are class acts and once they get back to top form, it would be very hard to stop us.”

“When results don’t go in your favour, you need to remain calm and keep trying and that’s what we will have to do in the remaining part of the season. I have full faith in the potential that we have got. Hopefully, we would play like champions in the second half of the season and would end up winning the La Liga title again.”

RAMOS SURPRISED AT CITY

The defender of Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos, has said that he is pretty surprised by the poor performance of Manchester City in the ongoing Champions League. City hasn’t managed to secure a victory in the ongoing Champions League so far.

Roberto Mancini’s team has played four matches out of which it has lost two and the remaining two games have finished without any result. City only has two points in four matches and it badly needs a victory in its next match against Real Madrid. If City gets defeated by Madrid in its next match, it will be knocked out of the tournament from the group stage.

Talking to the reporters ahead of that match, Ramos said, “I am pretty surprised with the way City has performed in the tournament so far. I had expected them to do better than this. But, they have disappointed their fans.”

“City is a very strong team and it’s very hard to believe that they are on the verge of getting knocked out of the Champions League.

“I must admit that Group D is a very hard group as all the four teams are top class. I think it is the hardest group in the competition. We want to top the group and for this, we need to win the next match. We will go into the match with an aggressive mind and will try to put them under pressure right from the start.”

Real Madrid is currently at the no. 2 position in the Group D points table. Madrid has just one point less than Borussia Dortmund which is at the top of the group. Jose Mourinho’s team has 7 points in 4 matches, while, Borussia has 8 points in the same number of matches.

NO BID FOR RAMOS

The president of Barcelona FC, Sandro Rosell, has made it clear that the club is not planning to sign the Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos. In the last few days, there have been rumours that La Blaugrana is keen to have Ramos in the squad. But, Rosell has denied all those reports.
The Barcelona president said, “All these reports are rumours. We don’t want to sign Ramos. There hasn’t been any talk in our camp regarding Ramos. I don’t know where these reports have come from.”

Barcelona and Real Madrid are the two heavyweight football clubs of Spain. These two clubs are the arch rivals in La Liga and very rarely does it happen that a player gets transferred from Real Madrid to Barcelona or vice versa. And whenever it happens, the supporters don’t take it too well.
In 2000, when Luis Figo took the transfer from Barcelona to Real Madrid, the Barca fans had got infuriated. Later on, when Figo came to Camp Nou to play for Madrid against Barcelona, he didn’t get a good response from the home fans.

Ramos is a regular member of the first team of Barcelona in the ongoing season. But, surprisingly, he was not included in the first XI of Madrid against Manchester City in the all important Champions League match. Since then, it has been speculated that everything is not well between Ramos and Jos Mourinho.

However, Jos Mourinho has denied the reports of dispute between him and Ramos. The Real Madrid manager said, “Ramos has no problems whatsoever with the Madrid management. If he was not included included in the team against City, it doesn’t mean that there is some dispute.”
“He is an important member of the team and he will be given starting chance in the upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano.”

KAKA MIGHT STAY

Real Madrid don’t want Kaka to leave on loan. There have been some reports that the Brazilian midfielder might play for AC Milan this season on a loan. But, the authorities of Real Madrid have made it clear that the club doesn’t want to place Kaka on a loan. The manager of the club, Jose Mourinho, said that rather than placing Kaka on a loan, the club would like to sell him.

Kaka joined Real Madrid in 2009. The club signed him for 65 million Euros. The club had a lot of expectations from Kaka, but, the Brazilian superstar hasn’t been able to stand up to the expectations. He has been highly inconsistent in his performances. AC Milan, the old club of Kaka, wants him. But, Massimiliano, the manager of AC Milan, wants to have a look at Kaka during the loan period first.

Meanwhile, the captain of Real Madrid, Iker Casillas, has praised Jose Mourinho a lot. He said that after the appointment of Mourinho as manager, the team has performed brilliantly in the last two seasons. But, at the same time, he said that the team has to improve in some departments to carry on the good performance in the upcoming season. According to the skipper, the upcoming season would be a long one and the players have to maintain their fitness level throughout the season. He said that the team has a number of experienced players and the team has enough potential to win quite a few titles in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that Real Madrid is interested in buying Lucas Moura, the midfielder of Sao Paulo. The English club, Manchester United, is also interested in Moura. The Manager of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson, has already said that he is talking with the authorities of Sao Paulo. So, under these circumstances, it would be interesting to see whether Real Madrid would be able to buy Moura or not.
